An engine is just like a human in many ways. In this example, the engine is missing and it could be many different things that cause this. Not unlike a human that is coughing, in which case, it could be many things that are causing the cough, all the way from an irritated throat to lung cancer. But, it's usually one of a few most common problems. For the I/C gas engine I would start simple and go from there. Things to ask yourself are: How many miles on the engine? How many miles on the spark plugs? How many miles on the spark plug wires? Are any of the spark plug wires touching the exhaust header? Etc.... etc... I would start by removing and inspecting the spark plugs and the spark plug wires and look for anything obvious. Is one spark plug "Wet" and all the others "Dry" (or drier). If one plug is wetter than the others it may be that that plug is misfiring. If that is the case it could be the plug wire or the coil. If there is alot of black smoke coming from the exhaust it may also indicate a leaking fuel injector, if there is no black smoke it may mean a fuel injector is not being energized due to wiring problems or computer problems. If the engine has very high mileage it may have a burned exhaust valve, especially if there is a leak in the exhaust header at that valve location. Just as an FYI, always make sure that the fuel filter has been replaced in the last 10-12 thousand miles. I hope this helps, if not let us know :-) TommyTrouble
Because its a 1988 Buick LeSabre
what can cause a 2002 buick lesabre to not crank
Illustrate how to jump start a 2004 buick lesabre
no. you might have to reset the clock and radio.
If you lights do not dim when turning key, then probably your starter.
car stalls backfires hard to start
Had this problem with my '87. I believe it was a bad fuel injector.
it sounds like your neutral safety switch
The timing is off, or a faulty air filter or, pull off the vacuum hose on your fuel pressure regulator and see if there is gas that comes out of the vacuum hose after you've run the car! If there is the fuel pressure regulator is bad !!! made my 97 lesabre stall but it would start right back up and run fine...
On the 2001 Buick LeSabre, the battery is located under the rear passenger seat, push back on the cushion a bit and you can feel the seat come undone from the bracket. (you would think they would have sticker in the engine compartment stating this) There should be a Postive terminal (red +) on the right side under the hood, then just use a engine mount or other piece of metal attached to the frame for a ground. Hope this helps!
the contact wires under the driver side airbag may be stuck
Change the oil and filter. Pour in 4.5 qts. Start the engine and run for 2 minutes. Shut it off, wait 15 min and check the level. Fill until it is full. You will then have your answer.
