in a pick up it will if it is 4X4 you need to make sure the gear is the same as in the front end

Not without some serious modification. Use a rear end out of a '64-'67 GM A body instead. They are stronger and will bolt right in.
All you need to do is count the bolts that hold the rear end plate on the housing.
If they are both 10 bolt, which means that 10 bolts holding on the rear end cover, and have 8.5" diameter ring gear.
The 12 bolt is GM's strongest rear end and the 8.5" 10 bolt is also a great rear end that will hold up fine.
