A bad neutral safety switch itself typically does not cause a fuse to blow. However, if the switch is shorted or has a wiring issue, it could potentially lead to a short circuit that might blow a fuse. In general, blown fuses are more commonly related to issues with wiring, shorts, or overloaded circuits rather than just a faulty neutral safety switch. If you're experiencing blown fuses, it's essential to investigate the entire circuit for underlying problems.
There are several things that can cause your brake light fuse to blow and keep your 1994 Ford F3 50 locked in park. The most common cause is a malfunctioning neutral safety switch.
Possibly there is a short in the wiring somewhere or the incorrect amp fuse is being used. Also, the switch itself may be faulty.
When I changed my shifter in my 74 camaro I had a similar problem with the battery dying. I later found out that it was because my neutral safety switch was going bad. so what i did was bypass my neutral safety switch by taking it off and just keeping it in the park position but that made the problem worse so what i did was take the n/s switch that came with my shifter and ran two wires from the n/s (RED And PURPLE WHIRES) which is the park position under the carpet to the n/s for the console and i havnt had a problem. or what you can do is disconnect the green and purple wires and ru a jumper wire between them to see if that will work.
the relay switch maybe stickin
I have a chrysler and i have to constantly have to replace the 20amp fuse to start the car why.
worn ignition switch
Is it just one switch that causes it or do they all cause it? Sometimes a switch will cause a surge when turned off because electricity will arc inside the switch trying to continue powering the device. This can be seen if you unplug an appliance while its still on: you'll see an arc at the outlet. Loose wiring at the switch or anywhere on the circuit will cause this as well.
