sure the hood will its in the same generation.
It will not be the same. The 77 is flat and the 76 has curves that extend from the fender.(I have both)

It should be below the driver's side grille in the turn signal area. A 1976 trans am hood release is under the hood in the grill area that is between the headlights. It is on the drivers side. It is just right(if your facing the car) of the small firebird emblem(unless its been removed). Or, simplified. Its is on the far left of the right grill(on the top underside)
Yes it will. The outer perimeters of trans am hood are the same from 70' - 76'. Even though the grill of a '75 looks different, the egde that flushes against the front of the hood has the same curvature.
