Vacuum leak or bad vacuum motor under dash
if defrost timer not working properly, refrigerator will be in continuous run.
you have a vac. leake or the oneway check valve is not working.....
It would depend on which defrost system is not working, the rearview mirrors, back window or front window.
Check the Escapes blend door system. The door is not working properly and causing all air to go to the defrost.
The most common cause for the defrost not properly working is a malfunctioning blending door. The blending door might be stuck halfway open. This would cause the defrost not to work unless the fan is on high.
The year, make and model would help but many vehicles use vacuum to operate the direction of air flow through the floor vents, dash vents and defrost vents. If the vacuum supply is cut off for whatever reason the system defaults to defrost only. So if you only have the defrost mode working chances are the vacuum supply is cut off. Check the HVAC vacuum supply line under the hood for damage. If that system seems to be working but you have insufficient air flow through all of the vents, check/replace the cabin filter if applicable.
Still unknown reason why, but after resetting system that is digitaly controlled is now working properly. THANKS DON.
this one is easy your switch the controls the vents is not working there is a flap the closes the defrost vents so that it goes through the other vents or there is a vacumn line that is controlled by the switch, and its leaking. The vacumn line is usually on the engine side of the firewall. It is a very small plastic tube comming out of the middle of the firewall at the top and it connects to a junction with other vacumn lines. See if any of them are disconnected.
Check your fuses!
Broken or disconneted duct? vacuum actuated motor not working due to a vacuum leak? selector switch not working?
does the ac just stop or does the defrost also come on out of the blue?
If only half of the defrost vents are working on a 2007 Freightliner Columbia, it could be due to a few potential issues. One possibility is a malfunctioning blend door actuator, which controls airflow between different vents. Additionally, there could be a blockage in the ductwork or a problem with the HVAC control system. Lastly, low coolant levels or a failing heater core can also affect defrost performance.
