replace it or tighten it
belt is loose.
This sounds like a classic case of the belt tension being incorrect. The pump is loaded when turning to full lock in either direction and causes the belt to slip when to loose. Adjust the belt and the noise should go away. If it is excessively worn it may pay to replace the belt.
Check the tension on the belt; a loose belt will cause the battery voltage to go down because it may be slipping on the alternator and also squeals when you accelerate because the crankshaft is turning faster than the belt.
The power steering belt is in need of adjustment or replacement.
check your alternator belt, and your pulleys ,
Bad belt tensioner idler wheel, and serpentine belt.
it could be your pulley that keeps tension on your belt or it could be a belt
nothing to do with the battery it is probably a loose alternator belt or power steering belt
can you change the alternator belt in a 1998 Chevy metro from under the car.
Tighten the belt. The belt drive the AC compressor. On some cars the compressor engages when the defrost is on to remove moisture from the air before it's heated for the defrosters.
The drive belt is worn out but more than likely it is just loose. Check the tension on the belt. 1/4" deflection center of the belt.
You should change the drive belt when you see cracking underneath the belt where it rides against the pulleys(the grove part of the belt)or you need to replace it when it continously squeals
