Change the oil and install a quality filter such as Purolator, Wix, AC/Delco, etc. Use the correct weight oil for your engine as recommended by the manufacture. If you still hear the knock at startup, this is a sign the engine bearings are worn. Nothing will fix this short of an overhaul.

A loud knocking noise in the motor of a car at high speeds is most likely the engine. There could be another issue with the transmission if the knocking only happens at high speeds.
Mine and everyone I have hears makes a knocking sound at idle, I wouldn't worry about it unless it does it through the whole rpm or is really lowed

if the engine is knocking really loud you probably need to overhaul the entire engine or get a new or used engine because loud knocking is not good
owners manual say it could be normal,but carbon on pistons from my experience also cause knocking,when I remove carbon knocking stops,I have corolla with 1nze engine.
Your transmission fluid might be low.
If the ticking noise goes away when the vehicle is warmed up then its going to be the gaskets for your exhaust manifolds...this is one of those general Chevy problems. Mine did it on my 1995 9c1 installed new gaskets now theres nothing
