Without any formal party endorsement, Lindbergh sure went through all the motions- without actually declaring candidacy. He was believed to have been connecterd ex-officio with the German-American Bund ( federation)- a Nazi Organization. actually any involvement in elective politics by an active duty officer of the Us Armed Forces- which he was- a Colonel- a Field-Grade officer ., violated Mil Regulations of the time- since probably intensified. retirees are another matter- witness Eisenhower.- but it is against the law for a Commissioned officer of the US Military ( all branches) to run for active political office while in service time.
Charles Lindbergh
Franklin Delano Presidelt, isn"t it the Most? Yes FDR sensed a keen political rival, fit and much younger, and then tried to crack down on his politics through the military Chain of Command. He never actually brought Lindbergh up on court-martial charges for treason, or defying the ban on active duty Army (AF then a part of the Army) officers getting political- Lindbergh ran huge political rallies, MSG, that sort of thing, tours, attention getting rallies ( I am not speaking of air shows) Yeah, President Roosevelt and Lindbergh, well, did not see eye-to-eye.
If he has only run once, he can run for a second term. However, If he has run twice, he cannot become president a third time.
