The duty of the Pres. is to veto laws and he tells congress if he wants them to make up a bil. He also is the commander in chief which means he can do pretty much whatever he wnts with the army except start a war (congress has to vote on that). The Vice President just has to pay attention to the pres. and to the news and give the pres. some ideas and suggestions and just make sure that they're ready in cause they have to become president.

Also, the Vice President has to oversee the Senate and help determine if the President can or cannot fulfill his duties at any given time.

Who is the VicePresident of Ireland?

We don't have a Vice-President here in Ireland. The Presidency is a less demanding position here than in some other countries. "An Taoiseach" (the Irish equivalent of Prime Minister) is the head of the government and is the more powerful position. Our President's functions and duties are similar to those of the Queen in England, 'approving' Acts of our Parliament, 'appointing' the Prime Minister and government ministers, and similar.
