Kelley helped found the National Consumer's League (NCL) and the Women's Trade Union League (WTUL).
The women who were actively involved in securing women right were Susan B. Anthony, Florence Kelley, and Elizabeth Cady Stanton.
George Biddle Kelley was born in 1884.
He was a founder of the National Grange of the Patrons of Husbandry, the central influence in the Granger movement of the 1870s.
Well, for one thing, he was my great uncle. My grandmother, Josephine Kelley nee Salamone, was one of his several sisters. According to my mom, Uncle Jimmy once served some prison time for "running numbers for the mob". I knew him as a dapper old man with an awesome smile and a gorgeous wife named Lisa, who had a charming French accent, and a beautiful daughter whose name escapes my memory at the moment. We only saw them once a year, at a family reunion in Westfield NY. Not a whole lot of facts there, but hope this helps.
1. The Grange was organized in 1867 and led by Oliver H. Kelley. The Grange was for the most part successful. It enhanced the lives of isolated farmers through social, educational, and fraternal activities. It gradually raised farmers goals from individual self improvement to improvement of the farmers plight. It helped to regulate railroad fees and set up stores for farmers to sell goods in. However a number of granger laws were badly drawn and their influence faded.

Florence is important because of it was where Leonardo di vinchi was born.
Florence Kelley was a pivotal figure in the Progressive Era, advocating for labor reforms and social justice. As a prominent social reformer and the first chief factory inspector for Illinois, she fought tirelessly against child labor and for improved working conditions, helping to establish a minimum wage and maximum hours for workers. Her work with organizations like the National Consumers League advanced consumer rights and promoted fair labor practices. Kelley's efforts significantly influenced public policy and raised awareness about the exploitation of workers, contributing to the broader reform movements of the time.
