when properly functioning, the rule of law sets a foundation for how governments operate. laws are based on individual freedoms in this country. unalienable rights. therefore laws are to be based on protecting the rights of all. One major downfall is when ruling elite parties enact laws based on morality or emotion of the time. we all suffer when rights are suppressed to meet religious or supposed moral expectations. It's easy to see in today's political landscape how knee-jerk reactions to situations we find offensive or in conflict with our beliefs can be detrimental to our way of life. why do people not see if we do not follow the principles of rule of law that our freedoms are determined by those who rule us? that's right i said rule they have forgotten they serve us.
