If we take a look at what we have he isn't too far off the mark. If we compare his time with ours I think the biggest difference in the politics is now we have professional politician's compared to the farmer/statesman of Washington's time. President Ford once remarked that the only difference between the backroom politics of his time and Washington's was that his was lit by electric lights and Washington's wasn't. I think he may have a point, but I also think that it is impossible to have divergent groups of people and not have them form some sort of group or party.
