Because the lie
In the interest of free speech, we would not want to ban TV advertisement. However, there should also be regulations against false or misleading advertisement. Freedom of speech is a good thing, but it does have its limits. * i woulnt say it is in the interest of free speech, tv ads are bought they are revenue. Now we have a debate (also an example of free speech). The companies which advertise, and the broadcasters who sell advertising time, are interested in their profits primarily - although even then, advertisement does include political advertisement, which is about larger issues than profits. However, the government, and the voters who elect the politicians who govern, have other interests, and they allow advertisement because they value freedom of speech, not because they feel that it is necessary to support the profits of the TV industry. TV can exist without advertising. People already pay for cable service, so it is possible to control access and to charge for it, using that money to fund the production of TV. That is what happens in some countries. Not all television is supported by advertising, and even in the US there are some stations which do not carry commercial advertising. When the general public allows advertising they do so because they value free speech.
by advertising the unfamiliar goods in ads in magazines. Or businesses worked hard to create markets for these new products.
No, that is not true. There may have been a time when national chairs of political parties were just volunteering their time, but in modern times, campaigns have become big business, and political parties play an important role in getting candidates elected. Candidates need to raise large sums of money to get elected, and while they can rely on wealthy political donors, they also rely on their party leaders to help set the political agenda and get the message out across the country. Thus, chairs of political parties are well paid for what is a very demanding job: today, they do much more than run the conventions, although that is one aspect of their job. They are being paid to make sure the public has a favorable view of both the party and the candidates. This means coordinating the campaign in each state (working with campaign managers, consultants, and strategists), honing the message, and guiding the direction of the campaign. It also means going on TV and radio to defend the candidate on behalf of the political party, and to oversee the political ads that will be used to make the other party and its candidates look bad.
Political campaigns are mainly conducted in the media with messages showing the good points of the candidate and the bad points of the opposing candidate. A campaign is also conducted by each candidate making appearances throughout the country to speak to the voters.
