Should the US have a president?

To provide a balance to the other branches and to provide a figurehead for the country to represent the country. The president leads the executive branch which within its powers and with the help of the other branches helps run the country.

This very important question is one which the voters must decide. I could tell you my ideas about the kind of president I want, but I am shaped by my own situation. background and beliefs. The fundamental premise of our form of government is that the informed mass of voters will somehow transcend the bias and fakery that individuals fall prey to , and choose the best candidate. It is not hard to question this premise and other ways have surely been used to pick leaders-- installing kings whose progeny would rule forever-- theocracy in which God picks the ruler-- appointing a wise dictator for life who would appoint his successor, but nothing I have ever read about has worked as well as the US Constitution and our obviously imperfect system of electing a president every four years.

All countries should have a leader.

Without a leader, the country would fall apart and stumble into anarchy. There would be no laws to protect people and no law enforcement or military to defend the innocent.

It's been proven time and time again in history that civilisation cannot survive without leadership and hierarchy.

Humans are not the only living animals on the planet to have leaders. Every other animal has a leadership too. For example, a pack of wolves which is run by an alpha male. Or a group of gorillas led by a dominant silverback.
