∙ 13y agoThe executive makes general decisions about how the country is run (for example, whether to break off ties with a nation, strengthen the economic standing, etc.), whilst the legislature makes the laws.
checks and balances allow the legislative, executive, and also the judicial branches to keep check on each other to make sure that one branch doesn't become too powerful or try to go above the law.
