∙ 7y agoA serious economic crisis--the panic of 1837, was the main reason for disenchantment with the Van Buren adminstration and the Democrats. Also, Van Buren was Andrew Jackson's protege, but he was from New York, short and unimpressive physically and lacked the charisma of Andrew jackson. People were willing to try something else.
