Why did the new government quickly take steps to amend the constitution?

The Anti-Federalists made a condition that they would only agree to the Constitution if there where a Bill of Rights. The Founding Fathers were men of their word and it was done.

How did the framers of the US Constitution view the issue of treaties?

America's founding fathers also had some framers of the Constitution in their ranks. Most historians agree that the founders and framers of the US Constitution envisaged the treaty making process to be the mutual agreement between US president and the US Senate.

Were the founding fathers for or against the slave trade?

The question itself is not very fair. The founding fathers grew up in a time where male superiority was unquestioned. Most did not believe in votes for women due to the fact that it was not demanded or requested until a later time period. Most did not even address the sufferage movement. But, John Adams ( the first vice president) responded to a letter from his wife where he did not agree with the votes for women movement. In fact he discouraged his wife from pursuing the movement because of the political turmoil that was occurring (due to the Revolutionary War) and America did not need any more division between its citizens. They were probably neutral, but they weren't for it. That's for sure.

What state were each of the founding fathers from?

There were lots of people who can be called founding fathers. The best thing for you to do is look up the individual names in an encyclopedia or your textbook. Even a dictionary will have the more famous men like Washington and Jefferson. If for some reason you don't have access to any such books do Google searches for the names you have, I'm sure they will all be on the internet many times. Anyway, go look them up. Any writeup on them will tell you their states. Michael Montagne I agree with the person above. The founding fathers are from such a wide rage of places that its hard to name all of the places. If there's once specific place your looking for or a specific founding father you want to find from a certain area do a search on google for the name or otherwise just put in founding fathers from the state of Connecticut or something. I hope i helped. There are many founding fathers that contributed to making our country what it is today but the most recognized are eleven of them. The following is a list of those eleven and what states they came from: George Washington, James Madison, Edmund Randolph, George Mason, and Thomas Jefferson (Virginia); John Adams (Massachusetts); Benjamin Franklin and James Wilson (Pennsylvania); Alexander Hamilton and Gouverneur Morris(New York); and Roger Sherman (Connecticut).

Why was the First Amendment important for the Founding Fathers?

Christine,What they meant by that term was, quite literally, the freedom to speak, to stand up, in public, and express your ideas orally so that others could hear them. They did not mean artworks, or striptease dances or any of the other things that modern courts have read into that simple phrase.Michael MontagneAnswerI would add to the previous answer that the founding father's had (legally) been prevented from speaking out against the King and his rulings. The freedom of speech concept, I believe, was specifically developed to protect speech and ideas which were critical of the government and its policies. In other words, it protected the right of the war protesters during the Vietnam era to publicly oppose the war. I agree that the freedom of speech amendment was not designed to protect pornographers. It is a protection of political rights not a protection of smut. AnswerYou are both missing one very important point. Offensive expression is exactly what needs protecting! It is the only speech that needs protection. No one is complaining about non-offensive speech. If you are going to allow censorship of any form then you have to give the government the ability to decide what they feel is offensive. How easy is that power abused? This abuse by the government is exactly what the founding fathers want to prevent by freedom of speech. How long before some forms of religious or political speech would becomed offensive and censored? You also have to realize that by living in a free society you are going to be exposed to things and people that may be offensive to you. The point is that everyone has different ideas about what is offensive. Do you honestly want to give someone else the power to decide what is acceptible for you? If you don't like something then don't listen to it or buy it - don't tell me what I can or cannot do. I thought 1984 had come and gone and we were lucky enough to have avoided having Big Brother control us. AnswerDid the founding fathers also believe that freedom of speech should protect discourse that emboldens enemies of the state during times of war? Answeri think that the founding fathers never intended people to abuse their right to express them selves. Answeri think that the founding fathers intended the words freedom of speech to be exactly what they mean but not for people to abuse the way they use that freedom becuase over time people began to use foul language that even children today are using people in america have the right to say what they want no matter what it is.

Why did the founding fathers agree to share powers with the states?

The states were in existence before the federal government, and in fact had to ratify the Constitution before it could take effect. Since the states were all essentially sovereign, independent nations, the Founding Fathers could not have done anything without their agreement. In order to get them to accept the Constitution, the state governments of course had to share power with a limited federal government; otherwise they would never have ratified the Constitution, and the United States would not exist.

When the founding fathers started you the people who was not included?

Blacks, who still hate the nation to this day so that was a good call. They were slaves, the only people enslaved in history who never got over it. Native Americans weren't included, either. I don't agree with that one. Indians are cool.

Why were many states reluctant to agree to the new US Constitution after the American revolution?

It was always a matter of who had the reins of the nation in their hands, the big states or the little states. The concept of shared power for a common good was just a wee bit obscure even for America's great founding fathers.
