The AAGPBL is the All-American Girls' Professional Baseball League and was founded during World War II because the players in the mens' baseball league were signing up for the armed forces and getting sent over seas. This was a problem because without the players , the owners of the teams had no product to sell, therefore no income. The women in the league wore short, belted tunic dresses that were to be worn no higher than six inches above the knee, but this regualtion was often overlooked to allow easier runnin, jumping and "dirt in the skirt" or sliding the last few feet to the base.

When the armament manufacturing companies realized they were wearing out and even killing some of their workers they had to change their ways of running their companies. They began to change the hours, shifts and to have their female and few male employees do exercises and have longer breaks.
