Again, I assume this is about US money. There are two dollar coins currently in production (but not used much) that are about the size of a quarter. One has Sacagawea on it and was introduced in 2000; the other carries portraits of US presidents in order of their terms in office and was introduced in 2007. The Presidential Dollar series is now minted only for sale to collectors, but those from the first few years may occasionally surface in circulation. At the end of 2012, this series had featured every president from Washington through Cleveland (second term).
Before those were introduced, small-size dollars were minted that carried a portrait of Susan B. Anthony. These were issued for circulation only in 1978, 1979, and 1999 and also occasionally turn up in circulation.
From 1971 to 1978 a much larger coin, the size of a silver dollar, was used, bearing the profile of President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
The coin is brass not gold, the names are on the front of the coin.

The first real person on a dollar coin was President Eisenhower in 1971. No silver dollar coins have portraits of real people.
