President doesn't have judicial power. Only the judicial branch has that power.
The power of Judicial Review is the major check that the judicial branch has over the other two (legislative and executive) branches of the U.S. government. Judicial review allows the federal courts to rule actions of the President and Congress unconstitutional, and thus overturn them.
The executive branch and the judicial branch came into conflict over the Indian Removal Act. Congress passed the act in 1830.
The independence of the judicial branch is ensured by checks and balances. Checks and balances ensures that all three branches of government have power, but not too much. It gives all branches independence, but prevents control by a single branch. Article 3, Section 1

The legislative branch checks the executive branch by overseeing the implementation of laws and approving presidential appointments. It also checks the judicial branch by confirming judicial appointments and having the power to impeach federal judges.
