The battle of Trenton is significant because the American victory discouraged British soldiers, and they lost almost all hope of winning the American Revolution. A discouraged British soldier wrote in his diary that the American victory made the Americans "all liberty mad again."

Over 100 Hessian soldiers were killed and 900 hundred wounded. There were no American Casulties. I would add that the victory at Trenton (and Princeton) was critical to building morale amongst Washington's army, especially heading into its harsh winter camp at Valley Forge. Moreover, it became a Propaganda tool for the Amercian cause and U.S. history (famous painting of Washington Crossing the Delaware).
