Actually there was only two MAIN people who were sent to explore the Louisiana territory.
Their names were Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. As they traveled through the territory they also met Sacajawea, who helped them on their journey.
(P.S. Sacajawea carried her baby on her back which believe it or not actually protected them from Indian raids. The Indians believe that a woman who carries a baby is considered harmless and so are the people she travels with.)

The famous explorers, Lewis and Clark, did not in fact buy the Louisiana Territory. Rather, it was the American government, led by President Thomas Jefferson, that purchased Louisiana from the European nation of France in 1803.
Some of the early Spanish explorers in Louisiana were Alonso Alvarez de Pineda, who mapped the Gulf Coast in 1519, and Hernando de Soto, who explored the Mississippi River in the 1540s. Another significant explorer was Cabeza de Vaca, who was shipwrecked near present-day Galveston, Texas, and later explored inland areas, including parts of Louisiana.
Three explorers of the land purchased from France in the Louisiana Purchase include Lewis and Clark. Their guide on their exploration was Sacagawea.
