Nothing outlawed it. It only says that the US Congress can't grant titles of Nobility. "No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince or foreign State." They can grant land and stuff, but they can't grant you that. There is the Magical "Kingdom", KY Kingdom, and all kinds of stuff here. There is a Statue of King Louis the 16th in Louisville. NATO has a symbol of King Philip on it and a State's star next to it representing the Monarchy of a State. Ever heard, "The King's Word is Law," that is because Royalty has the laws crammed down their throats since the day they're born. It is a misconception. The Louisiana Purchase was named after King Louis the 16th, and Napoleon lost you know? He was drugged to death on an island. It doesn't say of a foreign state it says or a foreign state. Whatever.
(Someone else's answer) Because the Founding Fathers wanted this to be a nation "of the people, by the people and for the people" devoid of the trapping of Monarchy.
The second clause of the Declaration of Independence states that "...all men are created equal...." The was a directed attack on blood-line royalty. The purpose of "nobility" is to stratify the application of law. Certain royalty classes by blood-line had exemption from some laws or additional priveleges.
For example from the tale of Robin Hood we learned that Robin could not take deer from the noble's forrest and from history that King's could have people (including wives) executed at their sole discretion.
Today we see the defacto and unconstitutional, in my non-judicial opinion, granting of a title of nobility by Congress when they exempt themselves from laws that apply only to we surfs. Exemptions from the Affordable Care Act for example. Also, by selective enforcement of the our laws the DOJ and FBI in effect grant nobility to certain levels of government officicials and hold them above the law. This, by the way, unequal or unjust enforcement of the law is a definition of tyranny.
As outlined in the US Constitution, Americans, while holding office, cannot accept foreign titles. This is found in Article I, Section 9, Clause 8, and is known as the Title of Nobility Clause.
America was built on the idea of every man being equal, no one is better than the other. Handing out titles of nobility will defeat the purpose because this will make the person look more important than everyone else.
congress and states are denied the power to grant _ of nobility Titles of nobility is where someone is given the right to live at the expense of the rest of the people. Like when prince Charles is made the prince of Wales, he gets the tax revenues from Wales. Basically Nobles are slaves masters and the subjects are the saves they farm. I also think that unfunded governmental retirement programs amount to defacto titles of nobility.
enter treaties coin money issue bills of credit grant titles of nobility tell lies
They would not have enough state votes to pass the constitution if slavery was outlawed by it. The south would have voted against it.
The prohibition against granting titles of nobility is found in Article I, Section 9, Clause 8 of the U.S. Constitution. The Constitution was ratified on June 21, 1788.
none. titles of nobility can not be bestowed by the congress or any one else in office. it's forbidden in our constitution.
article 1 section 9
The Constitution of the United States specifically prohibits the granting of titles of nobility by the United States or any state.
No one, the founding fathers outlawed the ability to give anyone title of nobility, because they wanted the people to have the power, not just one person. (president isn't a title of nobility?) Improved from: welll, im not sure. I was actually looking around for this answer, but i believe nobody has titles of nobility? this may be really stupid but can someone please improve this answer. THANKS :) J.R.
Article 1, Section 9 says that no titles of nobility can be given. This is because the founding fathers wanted the USA to be a nation founded "of the people, by the people, and for the people"
There are two nobility clauses in the Constitution. Article 1 Section 9 forbids the federal government granting titles of nobility. Article 1 Section 10 forbids any state to grant a nobility title.
Yes. It is stated in Article I, section 9 of the Constitution.
Because the Constitution prohibits a title of nobility given to anyone.
The United States does not have titles of nobility, and granting one is a violation of the Constitution.
