Although the electors normally vote for their candidates, there have been faithless electors who voted for someone else or else did not vote.
When voting at the poles a Republican can vote on the Democratic ballot in Texas. A person can vote for whomever they choose at the polls at any time.
During the Primary a registered Democrat cannot even go to the Republican primary, but you can vote Republican in the election.
