I think it is important because that way if a law or rule does not work out the way it should have, or problems come up, you can change it to better fit the needs of the people. For example: Eleventh Amendment (1798): Declares that U.S. federal courts cannot try any case brought against a state by a citizen of another state or country.

They made this amendment because a problem came up with that specific part of the constitution and it was causing trouble for people of the US.
