All invertebrates were considered " cold blooded " that is to say they control their body temperature by thermoregulation, using outside sources, rather than internal heat production (as in warm-blooded animals). However, some use other methods of creating body heat.

The correct terms are "ectotherms" (organisms that do not create most of their own body heat), and "homeotherms" (organisms that maintain a more-or-less constant body temperature).
