I do not believe this is true. Poison Dart Frogs ally with there own type not even the same animal as themselves. But this was a very good question.
They can live with other green tree frogs, red eyed tree frogs, and other similar sized lizards or frogs and toads. pets to avoid are dumpy tree frogs which will eat them, and poisonous dart frogs or other poisonous or aggressive amphibians or reptiles.

Well mainly the Poison Dart frogs. There could also be others but this is the only one I am sure of, usually the easiest way to tell if a creature such as this is poisonous is to look at it's coloring. The brighter and more vibrant the pigmentation the more likely it is poisonous... or colored to make you think it is. And yes, poison dart frogs do live in trees.
