Do red bellied toads have poison?

I believe you mean fire bellied toads. FBT's have poison glands on the side of their heads. They look like small bulges. They can also have them on their upper back. If the toad is not green, the poison glands on their back are light green. You can see poison as a yellow color in their water if left unchanged. The toads squirt out poison if they feel that they are in danger.

Yes, they are, but not as poisonous as some other species. It is reccommnded that you handle them as little as possible, and if you have any cuts or sores on your hands, don't handle them at all (as their poison can only be transferred through a open sore or membrane, such as your eye. I have four of these little guys, and they are at least 13 years old. I only handle them about 4 times a year, and very briefly in order to completely clean their cage. The rest of the time, I just change out about a third of their water and clean the sides of the tank. After handling them, wash your hands thoroughly. Newts are not the best pets for children, as they should not be handled and their secretions could cause illness to a child (once they wipe their eyes, or whatnot). Also, newts live a LONG time if they are "happy", much longer than I had bargained for, so keep that in mind as well. Hope this helps.

No, not really, it's just you should wear special gloves when you hold them. They have toxic in their skin and so do we, to them. We are hurting their skin each time we hold them, and they are hurting our skin each time we hold, ''them''. Ask a pet store worker about this a little more, and on how you should hold them when necessary. Hope this helps. :)

im also answering this: they are poisonous to kill other frogs and toads. we had them with others and they killed them all. ☻

Don't put them together. but you can put a fowler's toad with American toads and you can also put dwarf American in there with them.
