Snails eventually die if their is salt near them. You cant kill a snail by pouring salt on them or but just killing them hardly. (stepping on them).
The snails made a rich purple dye, which was used for clothing
The ancient Phoenicians are known for using snails, specifically the Murex snail, to produce a purple dye called Tyrian purple. This dye was highly prized in antiquity for its vibrant color and durability, making it a symbol of wealth and royalty. The process of extracting the dye was labor-intensive, requiring thousands of snails to produce a small amount of dye, which contributed to its high value.

Murex snails are no longer used as dyes because this use led to over harvesting and near extinction of the species. A synthetic dye that is close to the original color of the snail dye is now used instead.
Purple dye, historically known as Tyrian purple, is made from the secretions of certain species of marine snails, particularly the Murex snail. The process involves collecting the snails, extracting their hypobranchial glands, and then fermenting the secretions, which produce a color that ranges from crimson to deep purple. This dye is notable for its vibrant hue and was highly prized in ancient times due to the labor-intensive production process and the large number of snails required to produce even a small amount of dye. As a result, Tyrian purple became a symbol of wealth and royalty.
The phonecians created purple dye using snails. It was hard and ectreamly expensive - hence purple being related to royality.
It was extracted from sea snails! I hope this helped!
60,000. It says in my textbook.
They found snails that produced purple dye, and they sold it. They also had large cedar forests, and dyed the cedar logs with the purple dye that they got from the snails. They sold both things, many times successfully, and that's how they gained their wealth and power.
Purple dye in ancient times was primarily sourced from the mucus of certain sea snails, particularly the Murex species. This dye, known as Tyrian purple, was highly prized and labor-intensive to produce, making it extremely expensive and often reserved for royalty and the wealthy. The process involved collecting and processing thousands of snails to produce even a small amount of dye, leading to its association with luxury and status.
The Phoenicians made purple dye from them, and the name Phoenicia comes from the Greek word for the colour.
