They are carnivorous, they eat small organism found in their habituate. Just get some unpolluted pond water, preferably from the source from which you found it. You should see the organism swimming around. It is of course better to leave it in its original habituate and there could be laws in your area prohibiting you from keeping it.

I believe it is the fire-bellied salamander.
Some of this salamander's predators includes skunks, raccoons, turtles, chipmunks, squirrels, opossums, and snakes. As eggs and larvae, salamanders are eaten by fish, turtles, aquatic insects, birds, frogs, and crayfish.

blue spotted salamanders are not a fully aquatic species. The blue spotted salamander is a mole salamander and is generally found under logs and damp leaves. They only return to the water to reproduce. I have my terrarium set up with an approximate 80/20 ratio of land to water.
