You can judge the feeding routine a succsess or by their growth and body condition, whether they are plump or thin and whether there is food that is being left. Spoiled food will cause a build up of toxins the water.

Newts are a good starter creature for people new to amphibians as pets as they are interesting, readily available, and do not require expensive equipment or a lot of specialized care.
