The Trojan war took place around 1180 B.C. and it was not between two city states, but between two alliances: the greek city states of Mycyne, Sparta, Argos, Ithaka, Pylos, Mermidon and others versus Troy and their allies (Thracians, Amazons, Masagetai, and so on).

Mythology states that the reason for the war was the abduction of Helen (of Troy), Queen of Sparta and wife to Menelaos by a Trojan prince named Paris. Menelaos asked his brothers' help, Agamemnon (King of Mycynes) to punish the Trojans. Agamemnon called all the greek kings to his side: Achilles of Myrmidon, Odysseus/Ulysees of Ithaka, Ajax of Telamon and others. On the other side Paris had his brother Hektor, Aineias, and others.

The war lasted 10 years. The ancient Greek poet Homer told the history of the Trojan War in a 10.000 verse poem, called the Illiad.

Was the Trojan horse Joan of arc's idea?

No, the Trojan Horse was not Joan of Arc's idea; it is a story from ancient Greek mythology, specifically from the tale of the Trojan War. The concept involves Greek soldiers hiding inside a wooden horse to infiltrate the city of Troy. Joan of Arc, a French military leader during the Hundred Years' War, lived in the 15th century, long after the myth of the Trojan Horse was established. Thus, the two are unrelated in both time and context.

Who were the leaders of the two sides in the Trojan war?

Agamemnon - king of Thebes - was commander in chief of the Greek forces. Troy's commander in chief was King Priam, but the army was under the control of his son Hector. What precisely happened to the Trojan command structure after Hector was killed by Achilles is not entirely clear from the stories we have, but Aeneas was in command of the city defenses, and probably took an even more senior role after the death of his commander.
