The Minoan civilization can be traced to the largest island in ancient Greece, which is Crete. This civilization thrived from approximately 2700 to 1450 BCE and is known for its advanced architecture, such as the Palace of Knossos, as well as its art and trade networks. The Olmec civilization is generally considered older than the Greek civilization. The Olmec culture emerged around 1200 BCE in Mesoamerica, while the earliest Greek civilizations, such as the Minoans, began to develop around 2000 BCE. However, the more widely recognized classical Greek civilization, particularly the city-states of Athens and Sparta, arose later, around the 8th century BCE. Thus, the Olmec predates the classical Greek civilization by several centuries.
The Mycenaean civilization, which produced the oldest texts known to have been written in Greek, began around 1600 B.C. Classical Greek civilization ended when the Rome conquered Greece in 2nd century B.C.

Due to this, permanent settlements were established and civilization spread outward from there. Note: Greek, Egyptian, and Middle Eastern civilization began in 5000 BC. Chinese civilization began in 4000 BC and Roman civilization did not begin until about 1000 BC. So the world's oldest civilizations are Greek, Egyptian and Sumer (which was in the Middle East).
