Much like today, in the "Olden Days", they sent messengers with whatever letter, note, package, etc., that they needed to send to another person a distance away.

How did they send mail in the olden days?

Hardly olden days. Up till the mid 1980's most correspondence was sent by regular mail or postal service. This means writing a letter, putting it an envelope, addressing the envelope, adding a stamp (as postage duty) and then depositing the letter in a letterbox or at a post office. The postal service then sorts the letters, batches them according to area and street, the letter is then delivered to a home letter box by a post or mailman (car, walking, bicycle). In the early 1900's mail was shipped to a town (once sorted) by rail, air and vehicle for delivery. Earlier than that mail would have been transported between cities and towns by horse and rider (or stage coach).

How was mail delivered in the old time days?

Well that depends on how far away the mail had to go if it has to go across the country than they would take a bunch of mail on a horse carriage if it's going from one house to the next in the same town then it should pretty much be the same method as today except they would ride a horse.
