Farmers were incredibly unimportant, peasants and the Pharoah's eyes as worthless as slaves. Though the Pharoah would almost never come into contact with normal people if they did they prostrate themselves on the ground and kiss the ground beneath his feet. He would never ever speak to the Pharoah.
Because the ancient Egyptians honored their pharaoh as a god. They believed that the pharaoh controlled the weather and everything that happened in ancient Egypt. They did that so that the pharaoh would be pleased by his people and greet them back with life.

They planted, grew and raised food for the hungry workers that served a purpose as of building the pyramids for their pharaohs, and also for their towns and families.
