Cleopatra actually had very little power outside of her strictly domestic affairs. Her dynasty and independence depended on her relationship with Rome. She knew that Rome could take over Egypt at any time, as it had done to most of the territories surrounding Egypt. Therefore she had to ally herself with Rome's most powerful leaders in order to remain in power.
Cleopatra was not directly related to Akhenaten. Akhenaten ruled as Pharaoh of Egypt from 1353-1336 BCE, while Cleopatra lived much later, ruling as the last active Pharaoh in the late 1st century BCE. However, both Akhenaten and Cleopatra belonged to the same dynasty, the Ptolemaic dynasty, which was of Macedonian Greek origin.
they were last there at 2650BC and now its 2010 so that is............................................ 4660 years ago and the pyramids are still standing! It's debatable when the Egyptian Empire actually ended. It had been in decline for a long time before the end came. It is acceptable to use the death of the last Pharaoh as the end point of Ancient Egypt. The last Egyptian Pharaoh was Cleopatra and she reigned from 51-30 B.C. With Cleopatra's death came the end of the Egyptian Pharaohs. By the time Cleopatra came to power, there wasn't much of an Empire left. It was an imperial province of the Roman Empire. So about 2000 years since the end of the Ancient Egyptian Empire.

Cleopatra VII, the last active ruler of the Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt, had several siblings, including sisters. She had two notable sisters: Arsinoe IV and Cleopatra VI. Augustus, who was known as Octavian at the time, had a conflict over power. The conflict was between Antony and Octavian, not so much Cleopatra. Cleopatra was simply a handy tool for Octavian to use to rally forces against Antony. Even though it seemed that Cleopatra had her own ambitions, they were secondary to the major conflict between the men, which was all about power and the sole rule of the Roman empire.

Hatshesput is one, who was the longest reigning female Pharaoh. She's not mentioned very much because she never really had the fame of being the last pharaoh to rule Egypt... Cleopatra, the latter mentioned, was also a powerful and influential ruler of Egypt, making alliances with Marc Antony and Julius Caesar before Caesar was killed in the now famous assassination. Cleopatra later committed suicide when Marc Antony lost to Augustus, or Octavianus Caesar, just in case you were wondering.

Queen Hatshepsut was the first woman pharaoh in Egypt. She reigned from 1473 to 1458 BCE. Her stepson, Tuthmosis III, was technically pharaoh, but he was too young to really do anything. Since she was the first woman pharaoh, she wore a fake beard so people would still listen to her. She worried that if they knew she was a girl, they wouldn't respect her as much.
Cleopatra, as a Queen, did so much! She fixed the canals around the Nile, and she brought Egypt out of the huge debt her Father had put the country in, and she also made Egypt the most powerful place in the world at its time. That is what she did.
