According to Greek mythology, Hermes was just a newborn when he stole cattle from Apollo. In the myth, Hermes is said to have been born on the day he committed the theft, showcasing his cleverness and cunning nature even at such a young age. This act of theft led to a significant interaction between the two gods, ultimately resulting in Hermes becoming the messenger of the gods.
Hermes stole Apollo's cattle when he was five minutes old, and when Apollo found out, he was upset. Hermes had made the first lyre (stringed instrument similar to a harp) and Apollo wanted it. Some versions say Apollo traded the cattle for the lyre, so Hermes made a flute, a panflute. Apollo also liked the panflute and traded this staff, The Herald's staff of Caduceus, and in return Hermes gave him the panflute.
Hermes can not stay still for too long. When he was only two days old, he stole some of Apollo's cattle, and swept away the foot prints. He only got caught when one of the other gods heard music from the cave where Hermes and his mother were. When Apollo found two cow skins, Hermes said he was sacrificing them to the gods. He also had made an instrament out of some of the parts of the cow. Apollo was very fond of music so Hermes and Apollo created the first band (sort of).
Hermes is the messenger of the gods. He was worshiped because he protects and takes care of all the travelers, miscreants, harlots, old crones, thieves, and merchants that pray to him. If you are wondering why he protects thieves it's because he is very much like a thief himself. When Hermes was born he slipped away from Maia (his mother) and stole his older brother Apollo's cattle.
Apollo: the god of light and sun, music, and poetry (among other things). One of his symbols is the lyre, a stringed instrument similar to the harp.
I don't know, but he pulled his first "trick" when he was just a toddler. The story goes that he stole his brother's, Apollo's, oxen. He then snuck them out of the pasture by making them walk backwards and tying brush to their tails so that they would erase their own tracks. However, Apollo got wind of it and arrived at the cave where the oxen were hidden, demanding that Hermes hand over the cattle. Hermes however had made an instrument out of 2 ox's hamstrings, and played it before Apollo. Apollo was so enchanted by the music that he forgave his brother and claimed the instrument as his own. This instrument became to be known as a lyre. A U shaped instrument with strings and a sound box.

he stole the cows of apollo
Very, but he was not evil. On the very first day he was born he stole all of his elder brother, Apollo's, cows and tricked Apollo into thinking that the cows went the other direction using sticks and mud, and Hermes was less than a day old when he did that. It was like a prank.
Probably because at just a few days old he got out of his crib and stole Apollo's sacred cows. But he's also cunning. He made a lyre and Apollo was so pleased with it that he forgot all about killing Hermes!
Hermes is 17 years old
I'll give you some things you may want to know about Apollo before you write a myth: Hermes and He are best buds, (they used to be enemies due to Hermes pulling a prank on him when Hermes was a baby, but they are now friends because Hermes gave him a lyre instrument) Apollo is the father of his deceased son, Paetheon, and is the god of the sun. Writing Greek Myths means you should include a lot of Greek culture, like dracmas (ancient Greek Money) and greek architecture (like the trireme or the parthenon). I hope you consider the wise words of this twelve year old who is insanly obsessed with Sonic the Hedgehog, Pokemon, and Avengers. (: (: (: (: (: (:
Birth of Hermes Hermes, the herald and messenger of the gods, was like a breath of fresh air on Mount Olympus. He is a friendly likable young god who became the patron of travelers and merchants, theives and rouges. The son of Zeus and Maia (a daughter of the Titan Atlas), Hermes was born in a cave on Mount Cyllene in Arcadia in southern Greece. The young boy grew incredibly fast and within hours of birth, he had wandered out of his cave, killed a tortise, and stretched seven strings of sheep gut accross it to build the first lyre . He then quickly taught himself how to play!Stealing Apollo's CowsThe same day, the baby slipped out of his mother's sight and and went searching for adventure. He stumbled upon the pastures of the gods and stole 50 cows from Apollo .He then disguised his tracks by cobbling together "shoes" made of bark from a fallen oak tree. To make it even harder to track him, he confused the herd's trail by driving the cows backward and traversing sandy places that left no prints. At the river Alpheus, he stopped to sacrifice two cows. He burned the hooves and heads to leave no trace of his actions. After hiding the cows, he returned home and put on his swaddling clothes to sleep.First Sacrifice of Flesh to GodsMeanwhile, Apollo was searching everywhere for the cows. An omen led him to the cave where he found Hermes. The baby god pleaded innocence but Apollo disbelieved him and carried him before Zeus. Though he found his son's cunning ways amusing, Zeus persuaded him to confess and lead Apollo to the herd. When Apollo detected the two slaughtered cows, Hermes explained that he had divided the meat into 12 equal portions for the gods. Apollo was surprised and asked who the 12th god was. "Me, of course", acknowledged the lovable Hermes. Reportedly, this was the very first sacrifice of flesh to the gods.God of Herdsman and ShepherdWhile Apollo was gathering the cows, Hermes began playing on his new lyre. Enchanted by the music, Apollo offered to exchange the entire herd of cattle for the lyre.He agreed, and immediately began building another instrument for his own amusement: a reed-pope (or pan-pipe). Equally charmed by this instrument, Apollo asked him what he wanted for it. He agreed to trade if for Apollo's golden staff and with it the honor of being the god of herdsman and shephered and instruction from Apollo's old nurses in how to use pebbles to divine the future.Messenger of GodsWhen Zeus called Hermes to Olympus to reprimand him for stealing and lying, he promised not to do it again if Zeus named him as his messenger and herald. Zeus quickly accepted this offer and told his son that his duties also include protecting travellers, promoting trade, and negotiating treaties. To ensure speedy delivery of his messages, Zeus gave Hermes golden winged sandals as swift as the wind. He also gave him a round hat to protect him from the sun and a herald's staff.Hades soon asked Hermes to serve as his herald as well. As the herald of death , he collects and guides the dead to the Underworld.Usually in disguise, Hermes often visited earth on his own. Despite his rougishness, he trully enjoyed helping travelers. Word of his acts of kindness soon spread. Many travelers who became lost or suffered hardship called upon Hermes to help and he often assisted them quickly.
