I think he is important because he was courageous and defeated things in myths that almost couldn't be done. It teaches us a lesson that we should try to do the right thing even though it may be hard work.

Hercules didn't exist in Greek mythology - Hercules is the Roman name for Heracles. Heracles was one of Zeus' many sons; Zeus had children with a lot of mortal women. This upset Hera, because he was married to her. Heracles' mother was the mortal Alcmene, who was married to the human Amphitryon, who was Heracles' foster father. Heracles was one of the most courageous heroes that ever lived.
