they would eat them alive like canibals. CANIBALS!!!!

The Aztecs may have been cannibles but this was a more rare occurance. One of the few references I could find on the subject is the Aztecs first killed then ate captured Spanish soldiers. What the main priority of Aztecs what not to eat but to capture. The Aztecs where trained to capture not to kill so that the people they captured could be sacrificed to the gods, but for the most part people lived. the goal of the battles was not to destroy the enemy and ransack the village but to capture the community and integrate them into the Aztec society, thus providing a much more productive and expanding kingdom. The temples of these cities were burned and the worship of Huitzilopochtli was installed. They would sell the women, men and children who were weak and used only those with good health and strong will to be sacrifice. Prisoners of war were sacrificed on huge alters in front of large crowds. The heart of the victim was cut out, symbolically offered to the gods, and the lifeless bodies of the victims were rolled down the long stairs, staining the steps with blood.

Usually they came to villages, cities and tribes in the middle of the night or very early in the morning to attack. They come first in silence to the kill animals so they wouldn't alert the people, then enter the house of the headman and kill them. After killing the chief they would attack the other people who were either still asleep or distracted, those who resisted were delivered blows to the head so they were knocked unconscious.

Try these websites above to get a better idea. The first website is written terribly but it's got good info, the second is better. Also I know it's a movie but try watching Apocalypto it will give you a more basic starting point and it's not a bad movie to watch.
