So that he might have it to drink and it might serve him for supper. αὐτὰρ ἐπεὶ δὴ σπεῦσε πονησάμενος τὰ ἃ ἔργα, But then indeed toiling he hurried about his tasks, 250 καὶ τότε πῦρ ἀνέκαιε καὶ εἴσιδεν, εἴρετο δ᾽ ἡμέας· And then he rekindled the fire and caught sight of us, and he asked us; " ᾽ὦ ξεῖνοι, τίνες ἐστέ; πόθεν πλεῖθ᾽ ὑγρὰ κέλευθα; “O strangers, who are you; whence do you sail over the watery ways; ἦ τι κατὰ πρῆξιν ἦ μαψιδίως ἀλάλησθε, Is it to do with business or do you wander at random, οἷά τε ληιστῆρες, ὑπεὶρ ἅλα, τοί τ᾽ ἀλόωνται Just as pirates do, over the seas, ψυχὰς παρθέμενοι κακὸν ἀλλοδαποῖσι φέροντες;" Who wander having risked their souls and bringing evil to the lives of foreigners;”
