Like all of the Greek gods, Athena is a complicated personality with human like characteristics. As such, she is neither totally good nor totally evil. Most Greeks saw her as primarily a beneficent , or good diety because she represented wisdom, civilization, justice, and skills, and was often a helper to heros and the innocent in Greek myths. However, she was also a goddess of warfare and strategy, and sometimes performed acts that could be construed as evil.

Athena's relationship with Medusa is complex; while Medusa was once a beautiful maiden transformed into a Gorgon as punishment, Athena ultimately harnesses her power for protection.
