According to the ancient writer, Seutoniius, Caesar was "tall, fair and well built with a rather broad face and keen dark brown eyes." Seutonius also claims that his baldness was a cause for his enemies to deride him and so he combed his thinning strands of hair forward to hide it. Seutonius also claims that of all the honors voted to Caesar, the one he always took advantage of was the honor that enabled him to wear a laurel wreath on all occasions; this held his comb over in place.
