Mythology is as old as spoken language because mythology originated as stories that are either used to explain natural (yet inexplicable without science) occurences or to scare or motivate the population into behaving a certain way. Then the stories are passed down through the generations and evolve over time.
The Temple of Zeus in Olympia, Greece, was destroyed in 393 AD when the Roman Emperor Theodosius I banned pagan worship and ordered the closure of temples. Additionally, it suffered significant damage from an earthquake in 262 AD and later from another in the 6th century. Over time, the temple fell into ruin and was eventually buried under centuries of sediment and debris.

Well, this is about Poseidon:In Greek mythology, Poseidon (or Neptune) was the god of the Sea, Earthquakes, and also horses. Poseidon is known as the brother of Hades and Zeus. According to a single reference, when the world was divided into 3 parts, Zeus received the sky, Hades the underworld, and Poseidon as the ruler of the seas. Poseidon, Zeus, Hades and their brother and sisters were born from Cronus and Rhea. In most stories, Cronus tries to devour all his children since his father; Uranus told him that he will be overcome by his own sons. But after Cronus almost swallowed all of his children, Rhea had her 6th child, Zeus. She didn't want Zeus to be swallowed, so she secretly found a rock, and covered it with clothing. Cronus thought this was his 6th son, and he devoured the rock instead of Zeus. After Zeus grew up, he saved all his brother and sisters including Poseidon from Cronus. Poseidon was known as the god who created new islands, and offered calm seas for humans to travel. But when he was offended or ignored, he stomped the ground with his trident, and caused earthquakes, and shipwrecks. When men travel by the ocean, they sacrifice a horse, and wishes to Poseidon for a safe journey. Poseidon also had a time when he actually competed against Athena to be the patron of Athens. The Athens agreed that Poseidon, and Athena would both give the Athenians one gift and the Athenians would choose whichever gift they preferred. Poseidon struck the ground with his trident and water sprang up. The water was salty and not very useful. But Athena offered them an olive tree. The Athenians accepted the olive tree and Athena as their patron, because the olive tree brought oil, wood, and food. It is doubtful that the word 'accomplishments' can be attributed to any deity as no proof exists that and did, or presently do, exist. However below are some of the acts that have been attributed to Zeus; He chopped his father, Kronos the titan lord, into bits and cast him into the pit of Tartarus. Zeus's main accomplishment was overthrowing Kronos, and taking becoming leader of the gods. Kronos knew that one of his children would overthrow him. So every time he had a child, he would eat it. His wife was depressed, and finally went to Mother Earth (also Gaea.) Mother Earth was happy to help, and quickly gave advice to Kronos's wife. When Kronos had his 6th child, the baby Zeus, his wife quickly hid Zeus, and instead gave Kronos a stone to swallow. Baby Zeus grew up, and with the help of two other Titans, and the swallowed gods, (how they got out of Kronos's stomach is another story), Zeus defeated Kronos. eat his child A major thing that Zeus did was overthrowing Cronus and the other Titans, causing him to rule Mount Olympus and the Gods and Goddesses. He also was given the power to control over atmospheric phenomena (lightning, thunder, rain, wind). His powerful lightning bolt was given to him by the cyclops and Hephaestus, the blacksmith god. His main accomplishment was to take over Kronos well for starters he ate his wife... not one i think he should be proud of. He also helped his daughter win a competition against her friend to disarm each other and Athena accidental ended up killed her friend.

I don't think you have to teach to your child if your child is not 6th grade yet, because in 6th grade we learn about photosynthesis in science.
