The Maya did not build large roads connecting its empire like the Inca. the Inca were "conquered" by the spanish( Pizzaro) but the Maya dissapeared just like that. the Incas did not have a writting system but they did have a Quipu system where everything was counted using mathematics.
Officially the Inca Empire lasted about 50 years longer, until 1572. But that was the year in which their very last stronghold was captured; in reality they survived the Aztec Empire by no more than some 25 years.

Maya came before the Aztecs. Then disappeared. Aztecs were destroyed by the Spaniards. Looked for eagle on cactus, they were more violent, did more sacrifices.
