"Sinuhe the Egyptian" is a novel from around 1940 that fairly accurately and extensively describes the so-called El-Almara period in Egyptian history, the period when faraoh Echnaton ruled Egypt. That period is considered to be of considerable interest because faraoh Echnaton introduced monotheism (the belief in a single God, in this case the sun) and changed many traditional institutions and beliefs. On his death, most changes were again turned back by his successor Tutanchamon.
