Qin Shi Huangdi was China's first emperor, and he was sure that he could live forever. Because of this, his doctors prescribed him many "medicines" to ensure his long live, but these contained deadly ingredients such as Mercury and arsenic, elements that actually contributed to his death. As a result, he died slowly from poisoning, possibly going mad in the process, although historians are not entirely sure.
