the untouchables had to face a lot of discrimination.if we talk about them in context of the Indian society,then the untouchables emerged from the lowest varna category of the "shudras" who were the menial workers.it was believed that their mere sight also could even pollute a person. the bramins were majorly responsible for this discrimination.the untouchables ate "kutcha"i.e. raw or uncooked food.they were not allowed to eat the food cooked in oil. they could eat only the water cooked food.they were not even allowed to wear clothes made of fabrics like silk.
