At the end of Medea, Euripides ends it with a scene of contradictions and conundrums. Unlike most tragedies, Medea actually gets away with all the murders she has committed. By taking their lives and not giving Jason the priveledge to give them a proper burial, she leaves Jason without love and accomplishes her revenge.

In the myth of Medea, when she is in the act of killing her children, it is often depicted that their father, Jason, steps in to try to save them. He arrives too late to prevent the tragedy, as Medea, driven by rage and betrayal, has already committed the horrific act. In some versions of the story, the nurse or servant also expresses horror and attempts to intervene, but ultimately, Medea's resolve leads to the children's demise.

Medus, in Greek mythology, was the son of Medea. He became the King of Colchis after the murder of his brother, Perses.
When Jason set out on his search for the Golden Fleece, a task set by Aeetes, King of Colchis and father of Medea, she fell in love with him and aided him in his quest. She fled with him after he has obtained the fleece. Aeetes pursued them and Medea delayed him by strewing the limbs of her brother Absyrtus on the sea.
Medea chopped up her brother, Apsyrtus, in order to delay their pursuers and ensure her own escape. She scattered his body parts in the sea so that her pursuing father, King Aeetes, would stop to collect them, giving her a head start in her flight.
