The Roman Emperor who temporarily reunited the Roman Empire after it was split in half was Justinian I. He ruled from 527 to 565 AD and is known for his ambitious military campaigns aimed at reclaiming lost territories in the West, including parts of Italy and North Africa. His reign also saw significant legal and architectural achievements, including the codification of Roman law known as the "Corpus Juris Civilis" and the construction of the Hagia Sophia. Justinian I
Justinian made countless contributions to society. He ordered the restoration of many christian churches and cities that were destroyed and the creation of the Hippodrome. He also created the Justinian Code. 4000 roman laws were abridged into 4 pages. Justinian also reconquered much of the old roman empire including North Africa an Asia Minor. Theodora also made many contributions. Theodora created many reforms and expanded the rights of women in divorce and property ownership, gave mothers some guardianship over their children, and forbid the killing of a wife who committed adultery. Together, Justinian and Theodora saved the Byzantine empire from falling apart. They rebuilt the city of Constantinople which protected it for hundreds of years from invaders.
Justinian was the emperor of the Byzantine Empire; He was a high-ranking Byzantine nobleman.AnswerHe started off as a trader. His wife Theadora- the "co-emperor"- was in fact a stripper literally. But he ruled during the Byzantine (New Roman) empire. He reclaims western territories. He invents Justinian's CodeHe taxed a LOT (to reclaim territory)- was very unpopular with the people. In fact when there was a sports riot that burned down buildings in anger of the taxes, his wife convinced him to settle this when Justinian was about the abdicate his throne. So he tells all the rebels he'll settle it with them and invites them to the hypodrome (horse race stadium), locks the gates, and massacres all of them. He is REALLY interesting. With the destroyed parts of Constantinople (from riot), Justinian creates new buildings. He built the great Hagia Sophia Church. It's got domes and very architecturally advanced.Unfortunately, this leads to bankruptcy. And a downhill for the empire after his reign.
