Perseus was a child of posiedon so he got his power from water.<--- That is wrong. You probably got that from Percy Jackson the movie. Perseus was the child of Zeus. His mortal mother is Danae which makes perseus a demi-god. So one of his strengths is that he is half god.

Perseus did not have any superhuman qualities or strengths. He was helped by the gods Zeus, Hermes and Athena who gave him aides with special qualities. Zeus gave him an adamantine sword, which was a very hard sword composed of diamonds, Hermes gave him helm of darkness of the god Hades to hide and winged sandals to fly, and Athena gave him a polished shield which reflected light. It was thanks to these that Perseus was successful in his feats.

I wouldn't say that Perseus has any obvious symbols but my guess is that Pegasus is best affiliated with Perseus because Pegasus was born when Medusa was slain by Perseus. Pegasus sprang from Medusa's blood. I gave it a shot :-)
